    Free text is never a good idea because the lack of using that data for sorting / indexing. To fulfill the request though, part of the settings should include settings up personalized symptoms table. Whenever the user needs a symptom, he / she can add it throughout the "Settings"

    From data perspective, free text is never a good idea. Instead, provide users with the a ability to build their own customized lists, as part of the settings, that they chose Symptoms from.

    I'm suggesting that the user should be able to describe more a symptom that he / she had selected. That "Description" or "Measurement" should be standard or pre-set, not free text maintained by the users. For example, for the Symptom "Back Pain", "for a scale of one to ten" or "Tolerable, Severe, Annoying", etc.. I'm just trying to provide a example. Those measures will be the same for all the Symptoms, I'm not by any means suggesting to have different measures for each Symptom. Thanks for listening.
